Today in Toronto: Polaris Prize, Christine Fellows, Jessica Karuhanga, Carbon Paper, Blue Coffee

Today in Toronto the Polaris Music Prize ceremony will award a band or musician from Toronto (or maybe somewhere else in Canada, who knows) a very large cheque for artistic achievements, which they will then donate to a quirky charity. This year will be dull compared to last year's Godspeed drama, but at least stellar Jessy Lanza and Tanya Tagaq will be there (I'm going to guess that Drake's busy). Tickets for the public appear to be sold out, so look out for scalpers or watch it live via their website.

At the Bloor, David Sax (The Tastemakers) is taking over the cinema to share his love of food - and stoner comedies (Harold and Kumar go to Whitecastle is screening). Musician Christine Fellows is launching her new book Burning Daylight at Type, and Drake Lab curator Rea McNamara will lead a studio visit of artist in residence Jessica Karuhanga's work at the Drake.
