Dean Blundell Show Cancelled

102.1 the Edge has cancelled the Dean Blundell show

102.1 the Edge has officially cancelled the Dean Blundell Show. Today's news comes after the radio show was suspended back in December for homophobic slurs uttered on air by the show's producer and other personalities. The show has sat in limbo for the last few weeks while Corus deliberated over what to do with it. Today the network made its decision public.

"With the start of the new year, Corus Radio will be taking 102.1 the Edge in a new direction in 2014. The station will return to a more music-based format showcasing the best in modern rock. As a result, The Dean Blundell Show has been cancelled, effective January 6, 2014."

Although Blundell issued an apology after the initial remarks and subsequent controversy, that hasn't mollified his critics or the brass at Corus. The decision to cancel the show has been couched as one related to increasing music-focused programming, but one also suspects that the network finally just got fed up with the shock jock's antics.
