Hot Ticket: Ra Ra Riot, Mean Red Spiders album release, Lowest of the Low celebrate 20th anniversary, Teddy Thompson performs at Dokota Tavern, Richard Laviolette and Terra Lightfoot play PWYC show

Live music picks for WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 1 through TUESDAY DECEMBER 7, 2010.

WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 1 / RA RA RIOT / MOD CLUB / 722 COLLEGE ST / $16 / ALL AGES
New York indie rocker's, Ra Ra Riot, headline the Mod Club on Wednesday in support of their sophomore release, this past summers The Orchard. Arts & Crafts label-mates, and local favourites, The Most Serene Republic, as well as Manitoba's Imaginary Cities, have been on the road with Ra Ra Riot and will be opening the evening starting at 8:40.

THURSDAY DECEMBER 2 / MEAN RED SPIDERS / THE GARRISON / 1197 DUNDAS ST W / PWYC / 19+
Wavelength presents the Mean Red Spiders album release show this Thursday at the Garrison. Pay what you can at the door for the evening's festivities, in what will surely be a fun night of music that also includes Ben Gunning, Vaneesa's Entire Heart, and Willow Rutherford.

FRIDAY DECEMBER 3 & 4 / LOWEST OF THE LOW / LEE'S PALACE / 529 BLOOR ST W / $25 / 19+
Lowest of the Low, one of Toronto's biggest and best alternative rock groups back in the 1990s, continue their comeback with a pair of shows on Friday and Saturday at Lee's Palace. A true homecoming for these indie rock pioneers, who last played together during a small reunion tour back in 2000, Lowest of the Low are celebrating the 20th anniversary of their critically acclaimed album Shakespeare My Butt, which is now available, in all it's deluxe remastered glory, both online and at your local independent music store.

MONDAY DECEMBER 6 / TEDDY THOMPSON / DAKOTA TAVERN / 249 OSSINGTON AVE / $20 / 19+
British singer-songwriter, Teddy Thompson, takes over the Dakota Tavern with his captivating folk rock on Monday evening. It's been a couple year's since Thompson's 2008 release A Piece of What You Need, and I'm hoping to hear some new material at this show.

TUESDAY DECEMBER 7 / RICHARD LAVIOLETTE & TERRA LIGHTFOOT / TRANZAC / 292 BRUNSWICK AVE / PWYC / 19+
A great week for PWYC show's helps kick off December and save money for holiday shopping, Tuesday will be no different when Guelph, Ontario's Richard Laviolette and Hamilton's Terra Lightfoot, a truly wonderful pair of singer-songwriters, play the Tranzac Club on Tuesday. The equally talented, and very lovely, Abigail Lapell also performs.
