The Popcorn Trilogy
If you made it out to a film at the Bloor Cinema last summer, there's a good chance you caught an episode of the 'Popcorn Trilogy'.
A throwback to the pre-show serials of the 1940's, these short films follow the sex lives of Nigel, Peter and Joey; employees at a second-run cinema. Russ Meyer-esque in spirit, they're rife with beautiful women, double entendres and dirty miracles.
The most interesting thing about the shorts may be the way they were made. They were written, directed, produced, scored, and starring the real staff of the theatre. They represent an experiment in community filmmaking.
They were exhibited for six weeks at the Bloor (voted by theGentries the "Best Place to Watch a Film in Toronto") before feature films. This is your first chance to see them all together outside the cinema.
