Toronto Fashion Incubator recently revealed the final four emerging Canadian designers set to compete in this year's New Labels competition, taking place on May 5. AliceAzur by Miriam Baker, Christopher Paunil, Laura Siegel, and NOMAD of the SUN by Ashley Boutcher - all hailing from Toronto - will present twelve looks to a panel of esteemed judges. The winner will walk away with $25,000, an exclusive editorial in FLARE Magazine, production of a lookbook, and the bragging rights that come from being crowned Most Promising New Label. Past winners include Sarah Stevenson, who recently landed a collaboration with Target, and Sid Neigum, who now sells in some of the most fashion-centric cities in the world.

EVENTS

The Centre for Social Innovation (720 Bathurst St.) is hosting yet another pop-up market Wednesday, April 16 - this time, it's being held to celebrate the arrival of spring. Stop in from 11am until 7pm to snag some vintage and handmade goods including jewellery, scarves, apothecary items, artwork and more.

Toronto-based jewellery brand Blackbird is ready to launch Occult - their spring collection inspired by the power, mystery, and magic of female enchantresses - on Wednesday, April 16 at Oz Studios (134 Ossington Ave.). From 8pm until 11pm, the handcrafted trinkets will be available for purchase and perusal alongside vignettes curated by the brand's own coven of local ladies.

On Thursday, April 17, the Queen West Urban Outfitters location (481 Queen St. West) is hosting a free tote bag screen printing workshop from 5-8pm in co-operation with The Baitshop gallery. Drop by to learn how to decorate a humdrum piece of canvas with original designs, all while enjoying 30% off all sale merchandise.

Vintage Crawl Toronto is back and ready to paint the town red tomorrow night (April 17). After a very successful turnout the last few seasons, numerous retailers will be returning to be a part of the city-wide, late night vintage shopping party; new participants include Kensington favourite Courage My Love and jazzy barware shop BYOB Cocktail Emporium. Pick up a map at any of the listed boutiques to know exactly where to go for drinks, snacks, and sweet discounted finds from 7pm until midnight.

Next week marks the ninth annual |FAT| Arts & Fashion Week - a multi-faceted festival celebrating contemporary art and design. Over 50 runway shows, live performances, short films, photography, and art installations will dazzle Daniels Spectrum (585 Dundas St. East) over the five-day event, which runs Tuesday, April 22 until Saturday, April 26. Both the $35 day pass and $100 week pass are well worth the price - the notoriously conceptual creations are typically enough weird/wacky/awesome inspiration to last the whole year.

Up until this Friday, April 18, Five Pop-Up Shop is offering 60-70% off on womenswear by mid to high-end labels like Diane Von Furstenberg, Nicole Miller, J Brand, and more. Head to 363 King St. West between 11am and 8:30pm for a chance at the steal of the year!
