Todd Lynn

5 things you missed at the Todd Lynn show

1. Skin. Lynn's collection was tailored and polished, with some rough, unfinished-on-purpose hemlines, which referenced nicely the yards of material from which all of the pieces came. Lynn's key theme was to rip open his jackets and trousers at the hip and, in the process of shredding, reveal layered materials or skin. Beautiful knitwear was made edgy by revealing the tiniest bit of naked skin underneath.

2. Shoes. Todd Lynn collaborated with Louboutin once again to create some towering cage/cutout hybrid ankle booties. The shoes are pretty stunning; the details in layering complemented the clothes perfectly, adding to Lynn's "urban warrior" look.

3. Collars. Lynn seems to have a bit of an obsession with the collar. It's either go big or go home. With some other pieces, Lynn scrapped the collar completely only to make us notice what was missing. Tight, tailored ones gave some of the pieces a straightjacket look and - with harsh blue eyeshadow - the models did look a little cray-cray.

4. Blues. Most of Lynn's collection made use of muted colours like grey, white and taupe. The only hint of colour was a rainy deep blue that was used in long-knitted sweaters, silks and linens pieces in the collection. A fairly forgiving and flattering colour, the blue tones from Lynn's collection really stood out.

5. Safety pins and hardware. A cropped black jacket in black with pins latticed along the collarbone? Yes, please! The safety pin-inspired jewellery for the collection was made in collaboration with Shaun Leane. A top made almost entirely of pins was one of the highlights from the collection and will surely deserve to be the focus of many spring issue editorials.
