Intersection

Saturday, September 3, Day 3 of Intersection, features the signature festival event as a marathon concert is presented at Yonge Dundas Square. From 2-10pm, audiences—unsuspecting and otherwise—get a close encounter with an exciting lineup of artists activating the square. The day includes a performance by the wildly ambitious Labyrinth Ensemble, the minimalist dreamlike reverie of Joseph Shabason (AMBJ co-creator), intricately interwoven noise from The Dead are Those Who Have Died, and more. Unique collaborations will also hit the square as JOYFULTALK assembles and plays alongside an all star local band, Toronto’s musical polymath Colin Fisher joins forces with drummer Marc Edwards, and New York based saxophonist Steve Baczkowski brings his raucous trio with Ravi Padmanabha (percussion) and Brian DeJesus (bass) to the city. Revelatory racket-makers the Nihilist Spasm Band, world-renowned for their transcendent noise-making dating back to the 1960s, will present a joyful cacophony as part of the marathon as well. Programming in Yonge Dundas Square is free and open to all ages.
