Sushi restaurant chain gets slammed with 11 infractions by Toronto health inspectors

Health inspectors recently flagged a sushi restaurant chain in Toronto at one of its locations after they found multiple infractions.

Kibo Sushi, located at 555 Wilson Ave. Unit 111E, received a conditional pass notice on Sept. 22 after health inspectors found 11 infractions — three of which were crucial, three significant, and five minor.

The sushi chain operates over a dozen locations in Toronto and boasts an extensive menu full of tempura appetizers, premium rolls, udon, bento boxes, and massive party platters.

The crucial infractions included failing to protect food from contamination or adulteration, and failing to ensure that the food handler in the food premises washed their hands as necessary to prevent food contamination.

Minor infractions involved failing to ensure that the equipment surface was sanitized as necessary, as well as sanitary conditions in the food-handling room.

Despite receiving nearly a dozen infractions, the restaurant remains open for service as staff begin working through all of the issues highlighted by inspectors during their last visit.
