Toronto's Michelin recognized restaurants are finally receiving their plaques

Michelin stars were given out to Toronto restaurants for the first time ever back in 2022, and though we're now well into 2023 they're finally receiving their plaques and jackets now.

Restaurants bestowed with prestigious Michelin stars, which are given out for great cooking, receive special red plaques, and the chefs working there get special jackets embroidered with a Michelin star and the year they received it.

Restaurants and chefs around the city have been posting their plaques and jackets to social media in a flurry of excitement and pride.

"Finally arrived. I wanted to wear this Chef coat," reads a post from Aburi Hana chef Ryusuke Nakagawa.

"Thank you to everyone on the team always, We move on to our next goal, the journey continues."

Both Don Alfonso and its chef Daniele Corona posted about receiving their Michelin star.

"The star has arrived at home," Corona wrote online.

"Everyday our team is grateful to be able to share the art and dedication of a Michelin Star experience with our guests and the world," Don Alfonso wrote on their official social media.

Sushi Masaki Saito is the only Toronto restaurant to receive two prestigious stars, as represented on their plaque which they posted to social media, along with a video of the chef donning his Michelin jacket.

Bib Gourmand recipients (given out for great food in more casual environments) in Toronto got plaques too, with the chef from Enoteca Sociale posting theirs to their Instagram story.
