• Oretta, an Italian restaurant and cafe, is now open at 633 King St. W. (at Bathurst).
• Otto's Bierhalle has opened in the space formerly occupied by The Bristol at 1087 Queen St. W.
• Bake Code, the bakery affiliated with Chatime, now has a third location in the GTA, this one at 9255 Woodbine Ave. in Markham.
• Similarly, Millie Cafe—known for its crepe cakes, souffle cheesecakes and cheese tarts—has opened in Markham, at 8321 Kennedy Rd., Unit 1065, which is part of Langham Square.

Opening soon

• Double D's, which claims it will be Toronto's only Chicago-style deep-dish pizza joint, should be opening in early to mid-January 2017 at 1020 Gerrard St. E. in Leslieville.
• Sushi burrito and poke bowl place Rolltation is opening a second outpost at 2291 Yonge St. (at Eglinton) soon.
• "Good vibes only" poke/acai bowl/smoothie/coffee spot Calii Love will also be opening up a second location, in February 2017, this time at 1255 Bay St. in Yorkville.
• La Palma, the sibling restaurant to Chef Craig Harding's Campagnolo on Dundas West, should soon be ready to open across the street in the former Caffe Brasiliano space.

Closed

• Signs, the restaurant staffed by deaf servers where diners placed their food orders using American Sign Language, has been shuttered due to non-payment of rent.
• Mount Pleasant Peruvian resto Bar Mar, formerly Celestin, has closed, only lasting a few months.
• Pizza joint 180 Secondi at Yonge & St. Clair is no more.
• Thai resto Coconut Bay at Yonge & Wellesley has been replaced by Chopsticks House.
• After 11 years in business on Harbord, DT Bistro has bid its final farewell.

Other news

• Argentinian food truck Che will be taking over the kitchen at Churchill this Friday and Saturday night for a pop-up stint, as it looks to transition permanently to a bricks-and-mortar location in the near future.
• Don't Call Me Cupcake, the bakery with the addictive rum cupcakes, has moved across town from Kensington Market to 864 Broadview Ave., just two blocks north of the Danforth.
