Today in people-behaving-badly on Toronto highways, we have a motorist who appears to have intentionally forced another car to spin out in moving traffic before fleeing the scene.

"Who would do this?" wrote Ontario Provincial Police Sgt. Kerry Schmidt late Tuesday night in a tweet containing video footage of the incident. "Help us identify the driver of the car that failed to remain."

The video shared by Schmidt, taken from the dashcam of a third party, shows what appears to be a black hatchback driving in the HOV lane of Highway 410 near the 407, just west of Toronto's Pearson International Airport.

This car can be seen inching closer and closer to a grey car ahead of it in the carpool lane until the vehicles are nearly nose-to-tail.

After tailgailing the gray car for a few seconds, the black car veers out across the barrier space between lanes and narrowly overtakes the gray car. This action alone was discourteous, at best, and very dangerous.

Then, for whatever reason, the aggressive motorist pumps his or her brakes (while driving at the speed of highway traffic) directly in front of the grey car, giving the vehicle a nudge.

The grey car spins out of control as a result, hitting the left-hand median and then spinning a full 180-degrees across the highway. The motorist in the black car simply zooms off.

"This happens a lot on these HOVs. Some think it is a hyper speed, passing lane which of course it is not," said one local on Twitter in response to Schmidt's tweet. "That driver needs to be taken off the roads permanently. Road rage appears common for him."

"I literally see this a couple times a day on the 410 minus the accident," wrote another. "I'll bet there is only one person in that car as well."

Police have yet to determine the exact model of vehicle they're looking for, though Schmidt did say that the incident took place on May 3.
