Olivia Chow struggles in latest mayoral poll

The latest Forum Research poll on the Toronto mayoral race doesn't look so hot for Olivia Chow. As her numbers continue to slide, John Tory appears to have a eked out a solid lead as we enter the home stretch of the election. When compared with the last poll from the company conducted on July 21st, Chow lost four percentage points as Tory gained seven.

When when looks back to Forum's poll at the beginning of July that gap widens, with Chow dropping from 36 per cent to 25 per cent. Over that same period, Tory's numbers have increased from 27 per cent to 35. Tory also enjoys the highest approval rating of the candidates, coming in at 67 per cent to Chow's 52 (Ford comes in at 35 per cent).

Rob Ford's voter percentage remains consistent over the last four polls at 27 per cent. Both David Soknacki and Karen Stintz trail well behind the leading three candidates. I always feel it necessary to point out how unreliable poll numbers are, so I'm not entirely convinced that Chow's in quite as much trouble as the trend tracked her indicates, but it's certainly worthy of note that Forum's methods have her and John Tory's fortunes reversed in roughly the span of a month. Election day is October 27th, so there's roughly two and half more to go.
