A gun battle near Jane & Sheppard yesterday was the last straw and has prompted city councillor Giorgio Mammoliti to suggest a drastic proposal to curb the ongoing gang violence problem - bring in the army to clean house?

Ontario's upcoming, inaugural February Family Day is ruffling feathers at companies that also operate outside our province. They may be forced to use floater days in other provinces on that day, which reduces employee vacation flexibility.

Someone, presumably with a prescription drug problem, held up a Newmarket pharamacy at gunpoint and was later arrested in Markham. The suspect is a veteran Toronto police officer, and she's in trouble in more ways than one.

Real estate activity in the city continues to break records, with November numbers once again showing no signs of a slowdown in the market.

The federal government is creating a "vehicle retirement program" which aims to create financial incentive for people to take their older, gas-guzzling cars off the roads. Trading in a 1992 Taurus for a Metropass would be a decent deal if the TTC were a decent service.

The Don River is an urban cesspool, and recently released water quality ratings confirm it as one of the worst in Canada. And I've seen people fishing from it. Yikes.
