UsabilityCamp Celebrates World Usability Day

UsabilityCamp Celebrates World Usability Day

For an event that was focused on usability, the first thing I noticed about UsabilityCamp is that the layout of the room was anything but usable. The chairs were so tightly packed that moving around the room was a chore, and the lines of sight were a bit compromised. Of course, maybe I was being a bit picky, but as someone who does user experience work for 14 hours of every day (including weekends), little things like that get to me.

Luckily, I wasn't the only one. Everyone in the room at the Gladstone Hotel tonight was obsessed with usability and the way humans interact with the world around them, so I wasn't alone in my thoughts. UsabilityCamp was Toronto's main event in celebration for this year's World Usability Day, and it brought together user experience and user interaction enthusiasts for a night of networking, presentations, and discussion.

The event itself was excellently planned and executed, and was full of great ideas and learning. I won't go into too much detail because I realize not everyone that reads the blog is as passionate about usability as I am, but for those of you who have a bit of interest, I strongly suggest you check out the next UsabilityCamp, even if it may be a year away. Hopefully they'll get the usability of the location right next time.
