This Week:

Wednesday--So my brother and I were passing along the Don Valley where those things are; you know the THINGS, those giant surreal polar bear like things with the flat fauna tops standing in the park beside the Don. My brother insisted they were highly functioning water filtration units. I maintained they were sculptures with an aesthetic focus. Now we have a chance to settle the argument once and for all as their creator Noel Harding, along with artist, editor and curator Richard Rhodes, whose paintings also tiptoe the line between art and science, will be joint-presenting an artists' talk on Wednesday, September 27 at 1 pm at Dyan Marie Projects, 1444 Dupont St. in unit 31.

Friday--Time to lace my running shoes; a giant urban game of "capture the flag" for the traceur initiate is set for this Friday at 9 pm. Free for anyone to join, Capture the Flag is presented by Newmindspace, the people who brought Toronto urban pillow fighting, subways parties and bubble battles. I've been told to bring a flashlight and a cellphone. I'm fairly un-athletic, so I'll be over at the sidelines holding people's stuff.
