Happy Pride Week!

Get into the spirit Wednesday at Art Metropole (788 King St. W) and check out "C A Night of Readings" from Get Your Lit Out! The free readings will include Mariko Tamaki, Zoe Whittall, Debra Anderson, Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarasinha, Kristyn Dunnion (Miss Kitty Galore), and Sandra Alland. 7-10pm.

If you'd rather something a little more mainstream - Curtis Sittenfeld, author of Prep, will be at Nicholas Hoare promoting her new novel Man of My Dreams. Chick lit (a term I hate, by the way, but useful, I suppose) you don't have to be embarrassed to read on the bus, or on the beach. 6pm, free.

Also on Wednesday, for the more scholastically inclined TWB presents Our Fire Survives the Storm: A Cherokee Literary History by Daniel Heath Justice. Justice is the assistant prof. of aboriginal lit at U of T. So, not a typical summer read. 7pm, free.

Thursday, Lula Lounge presents Afua Cooper's new book of poetry Copper Woman. Cooper recently received accolades for her incendiary history book The Hanging of Angelique (the rights to which, incidentally, have been sold to a film company). The event includes performances from the Dub Trinity Band and poets Mel White, Strong and Heron Jonse. Doors at 6p, show at 7:30p, 10$ (sliding scale). LL is at 1585 Dundas W

Another pride event on Thursday - Hank O'Neal will be exhibiting photographs, and signing his book Gay Day: The Golden Age of the Christopher Street Parade at the Bulger Gallery. The book follows the history of the Pride Parade in NYC. 5-8p.

And again - at 7:30p you can head to Ryerson for Bending Erotic, a panel of writers discussing queer literature, headed by Carol Queen. At the University Student Centre.
