Hair, the Musical, Postering on Queen West

Really surprised to come across a number of these ads tonight while walking along Queen West. It appears CanStage has now decided to promote their run of the musical, Hair, through 8.5x11" neon photocopied posters on municipal poles.

While they're kind of fun in a lame sort of way, I'm not digging this approach. They've got a great production with a 100% Canadian cast and this is the new direction promotion is going? This is a musical! It really should be more about the over-the-top promotions, colour posters, perhaps some people on the street-- ooo, or performers on the street!

Screw the posters and hire someone to take to the Queen West on busy Saturdays wearing a wild afro wig and singing songs from the show. That's got to be more effective (or at least memorable) than a few photocopies that are going to wash away in inevitable April showers.
